LORNA LOVES: COLOUR

From time to time, we like to delve into the world of our founder, Lorna Watson, to find out what’s making her tick. This month, we shine a light on her love of colour and blue hues..

I’m re-reading: The Secret Lives of Colour by Kassia St. Clair. An alluring and thought provoking history of colour and how it shapes our planet. Art, history, fashion and fiction influence our subconscious through colours like  Yves Klein blue and the symbolism that the colour spectrum holds. I love using colour in both my personal and professional life and have a particular affinity with the depth and vibrancy of blue.”

I’m at home: I travel a lot, living and working between Bali and London. Running a business means I rarely spend time at home but when I do, I surround myself with items that have meaning and remind me of special adventures. I love this brass and electric blue bowl from Louise Roe that was gifted to me on a romantic weekend in Copenhagen and the little 1950’s tealight that I bought in a brocante in the south of France. Alongside is a favourite pebble given to me by a friend on a sailing trip in Cornwall.

I'm enjoying: Frozen Blue Margaritas - These chilled, refreshing blended blueberry margaritas are made with all natural ingredients and immediately transport me to holidays in Mexico.

Ingredients

Per margarita, multiply servings as necessary

2 ounces 100% agave silver/blanco tequila

1 ½ ounces fresh orange juice

1 ounce fresh lime juice

1 teaspoon agave nectar

½ cup fresh blueberries

½ cup ice cubes

Garnish

2 teaspoons kosher salt

½ teaspoon chili powder (for a little kick)

Small orange wedge

Instructions

First, prepare each glass: Pour the salt and chili powder onto a very small plate. Run a small wedge of orange around the upper outer rim of each glass (I prefer to only salt half of the rim). Roll the dampened rim into the salt mixture.

In a blender, combine the tequila, orange juice, lime juice, agave nectar, blueberries and ice cubes. Blend until smooth.

Taste and add a little more agave nectar if the mixture tastes harsh or just doesn’t quite sing, then blend again. Pour the mixture into each prepared glass and carefully drop a few smaller ice cubes in. Serve immediately.

Salud!
